The article “Preparing for Flood Risks in the Kokemäki River through the Horizon Europe–funded Aurora Project” was published by the West Finland European Office (WFEO) in its March 2026 newsletter.

Aurora Project Highlighted by West Finland European Office
Partners of the Aurora project from the City of Pori and Prizztech Oy were recently visited and interviewed by the West Finland European Office (WFEO). This Brussels-based office represents four regions of Western Finland, monitoring EU policies and supporting regional stakeholders in accessing EU funding, partnerships, and collaboration opportunities in key innovation sectors.
Following this meeting, WFEO published an engaging article highlighting the climate challenges faced by the city of Pori and the role of the Aurora project in addressing them. The article provides insights into increasing flood risks in the Kokemäki River basin and the urgent need for adaptive, forward-looking solutions in response to climate change.
The WFEO article also underlines the importance of such initiatives for the public sector, where funding is often prioritised for maintenance and infrastructure, leaving limited resources for innovation. Projects like Aurora help bridge this gap by enabling cities to test and implement new technologies that enhance preparedness and resilience.
